Drainage

Repairs, tune‑ups,
gutters and storm work.

A roof does not keep water out so much as move it away, and the moving-away part is the half that gets ignored. Blocked gutters do not simply overflow prettily over the front edge. Water backs up under the bottom course of shingles, sits on the fascia board until it goes soft, and runs down the wall instead of out to the yard. In the Piedmont the usual culprit is pine, because needles knit into a mat that holds water like a sponge and does not wash through the way leaves do. Downspouts block at the elbow where they turn, which is invisible from the ground and is why a gutter that was cleaned can still be full. Debris on the roof itself matters just as much: a pile of needles in a valley or behind a chimney holds moisture against the shingles permanently. So the gutters get cleared, the downspouts get checked through to the outlet, and the roof gets swept of what is sitting on it.

How a repair actually goes

A roof gets looked at
before anything gets sold.

Most roofs that leak do not need replacing. They need the one bad detail found and fixed. So the first visit is a look, not a quote for a new roof.

  1. 01

    You describe the stain

Where it shows inside, when it started, and whether it tracks with heavy rain.

  2. 02

    The roof gets walked

Water rarely enters where it drips. Flashing, valleys, boots and the gutter line all get checked.

  3. 03

    You are shown the cause

Photographs of the detail letting water in, so you can see the problem rather than take it on trust.

  4. 04

    It gets repaired

Shingles, flashing, sealant and the gutter run put right. If it is bigger than a repair, you are told.
